While on a vacation in Hawaii in May 1977 George Lucas and Steven
Spielburg were talking about films they'd enjoy directing. Spielburg mentioned
that he would like taking a crack at a Bond adventure, George responded with
his story idea for Indiana Jones an archeologist, adventurer who travels
around the globe in search of a sacred treasure. That idea lead both men,
three years later, to create Raiders of the Lost Ark.Steven began the directing
for the first Indy installment June 23rd, 1980 in La Rochelle, France and
over the next fourteen weeks took the actors and the crew to four countries
for location and studio filming.
The movie was released in 1981 and showed to become one
of the most successful films ever, making $242,374,454 in domestic box office,
wow! The movie stars actors Harrison Ford, Paul Freeman, Ronald Lacey, John
Rhys-Davis, Denholm Elliot and actress Karen Allen, with music by John Williams.
Even though it is the first Indy movie, Raiders of the Lost Ark(1936) takes
place one year after The Temple of Doom(1935).
